Med et statisk kamera tar Nikolaus Geyrhalter oss med til noen av klodens mest betagende snødekte landskap. Fra de spektakulære 16 meter høye snøveggene i Japan, til bruk av kunstsnø i Val-d’Isère i Sør-Frankrike. Geyrhalter besøker også Alpene, Island, Canada og en forskningsstasjon i Antarktis. Overalt portretteres menneskene som lever i disse områdene, og de får selv fortelle om sitt forhold til snø.

Tromsø International Film Festival takes place during the polar night, making outdoor film screenings possible. The Winter Cinema is located at Erling Bangsunds plass, in the heart of the city.
With a static camera, Nikolaus Geyrhalter takes us to some of the planet’s most breathtaking snow-covered landscapes. From the spectacular, 16-meter-high snow walls in Japan to the use of artificial snow in Val-d’Isère in Southern France. Geyrhalter also visits the Alps, Iceland, Canada, and a research station in Antarctica. Everywhere, the people who live in these areas are portrayed, and they speak about their relationship with snow.
