Presenter: Noortje Haugstvedt, Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket)
With contributions from Kristian Breili and Ove Christian Dahl Omang.

Through research activities and collaborations, the Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket) uses geographic information (geodata) to strengthen the ability to meet key societal challenges, such as climate and environmental change.
Join our talk to learn more about our R&D activities. We will have a special focus on the need for improved geodetic models to accurately monitor and map oceanographic currents, sea level, glacial movement, oceanographic currents, and seafloor bathymetry.  To do so, there is a need for an improved geodetic data and knowledge base, including an up-to-date vertical reference frame for the marine and coastal zones. We will address the issues with the current vertical reference frames and potential solutions to improve them.
We welcome input and are open to future collaborations.

About Fram Talks: The Fram Centre building offers a multi-disciplinary, international, multicultural work environment – and we want to leverage this diversity. You can be a part of «Fram Talks», a venue for exchanging knowledge and learning from each other. These informal events last 45 minutes, from 09.00 to 09.45, and occur in Lysgården at the Fram Centre. We will of course serve coffee and a light breakfast!
